Ngaire is a GP, Professor and Head of the School of Population Health, University of Auckland. She has led gerontological research to maintain independence in ageing. Her research includes clinical trials to prevent falls and improve function in community and residential care settings, and, working with Maori research leaders, a bicultural longitudinal study of ageing. Ngaire leads the community theme of Brain Research New Zealand and is part of groups developing strategies to improve the life of people with dementia.
